Nine Exercises to Discern Your Nso

Exercise 1 — Mapping Your Life's Turning Points

Purpose: Discover patterns that repeatedly shape your life.

Reflect on:

  • What moments permanently changed who you became?

  • Which decisions unexpectedly strengthened you?

  • Which mistakes seemed to weaken more than just one area of life?

  • What lessons seem to repeat until learned?

Reflection: What invisible principle seems to be guiding these turning points?

Exercise 2 — Your Invisible Fuel

Some things seem to nourish you even though nobody else can see their effect.

Create two lists.

Things that quietly strengthen me

Examples:

  • silence

  • prayer

  • solitude

  • nature

  • rituals

  • ancestral practices

  • fasting

  • sacred study

Things that quietly weaken me

Examples:

  • betrayal

  • broken promises

  • dishonoring commitments

  • certain environments

  • certain behaviors

Ask yourself:

  • Which of these changes me long after it happens?

  • Which violations leave damage that takes unusually long to recover from?

Exercise 3 — Feeding the Inner Eyes

Observe everything you consume for one week.

Include:

  • social media

  • conversations

  • books

  • films

  • news

  • music

  • visual environments

Then ask:

  • Which content leaves me clearer?

  • Which leaves me distracted?

  • What inspires disciplined action?

  • What encourages unhealthy habits?

Finally ask: If my attention creates my future habits, what should I stop feeding it?

Exercise 4 — Energy Calibration

For two weeks, keep a daily journal. After every major activity record:

  • energy level

  • creativity

  • emotional clarity

  • motivation

  • physical vitality

Patterns eventually appear.

Ask:

  • What consistently increases my capacity?

  • What quietly drains it?

  • What combinations produce my best state?

Exercise 5 — The Talent Compass

Think about your greatest gifts.

Then answer:

  • When do these gifts naturally appear?

  • What conditions help them flourish?

  • What conditions suppress them?

  • What kinds of people amplify my gifts?

  • Which relationships diminish them?

Reflection: Perhaps your gifts already know the environment they belong in.

Exercise 6 — Sacred Boundaries Inventory

Complete two columns.

I should never...

Examples may include:

  • lie

  • overwork

  • gossip

  • neglect rest

  • betray trust

  • ignore intuition

I should always...

Examples may include:

  • tell the truth

  • create daily

  • pray

  • exercise

  • protect quiet time

  • honour elders

Then ask: Which items feel less like rules and more like part of who I naturally am?

Exercise 7 — Listening to the Body

For one month observe physical responses.

Notice:

  • foods

  • places

  • people

  • routines

  • sleep

  • work patterns

Questions:

  • When does my body feel immediately lighter?

  • When does it become tense?

  • What consistently restores me?

  • What consistently creates discomfort?

Exercise 8 — The Cost of Violation

Think of moments you ignored your inner knowing.

For each situation ask:

  • What did I ignore?

  • Why?

  • What happened afterward?

  • Which part of life suffered first?

  • How long did recovery take?

Reflection: Sometimes consequences reveal personal taboos better than successes.

Exercise 9 — Writing Your Living Code

Using everything you've discovered, write two personal lists.

Things I must preserve

These become your sacred practices.

Things I must avoid

These become your personal prohibitions.

Then rank each from:

  • Essential

  • Important

  • Optional

Finally ask: If I lived according to these for five years, who would I become?
